সব প্লেনেই দু’রকমের ব্ল্যাক বক্স রাখা থাকে। এটাই নিয়ম। একটা হল- ককপিট ভয়েস রেকর্ডার (সিভিআর) এবং অপরটি হল ফ্লাইট ডেটা রেকর্ডার (এফডিআর)। কোনও দুর্ঘটনা হলে এই দুই রেকর্ডিং থেকে কী ঘটেছিল সেটার একটা ছবি ভেসে ওঠে তদন্তকারীদের সামনে। ফ্লাইট ডেটা রেকর্ড থেকে পাওয়া যায় অক্ষাংশ-দ্রাঘিমাংশের হিসেব, কোনদিকে যাচ্ছিল বিমান, কত স্পিড ছিল এমন মোট ৮০ রকমের তথ্য পাওয়া যায়।
দুর্ঘটনার পরও ব্ল্যাক বক্স অক্ষত থাকে কীভাবে?
এই প্রশ্ন অনেকের মনেই উঠতে পারে যে বিমান দুর্ঘটনায় যেখানে সমস্ত কিছু কার্যত ভগ্নাবশেষে পরিণত হয় সেখানে এই বক্স বেঁচে যায় কীভাবে। এর প্রধান কারণ হল এটি বানান হয় স্টিল অথবা টাইটেনিয়াম ধাতব পদার্থ দিয়ে। শুধু তাই নয় ইনসুলেটেড লেয়ার থাকে। যার ফলে জলের মধ্যে কিংবা অতিরিক্ত ঠান্ডায় বা আগুনের প্রচন্ড উত্তাপেও যাতে কিছু না হয়। বিমানের একেবারে লেজের দিকে রাখা থাকে এই বক্স। যেখানে ক্র্যাশের রেশ সবচেয়ে কম পড়ে। এখন স্থলভাগে বা জলভাগে ব্ল্যাক বক্স থেকে ৩০ দিন ধরে আল্ট্রাসাউন্ড সিগন্যাল বেরোতে থাকে যাতে কোনও র্যাডারে তা ধরা পড়ে তদন্তকারীরা খুঁজে পায়। তবে ব্যতিক্রম ঘটনাও আছে যেমন মালেসিয়ান বিমান দুর্ঘটনায় ব্ল্যাক বক্সটি খুঁজেই পাওয়া যায়নি।

Religions have helped greatly in the development of humanity. They have laid down values and standards and have pointed out principles for the guidance of human life. But with all the good they have done, they have also tried to imprison truth in set forms and dogmas, and encouraged ceremonials and practices which soon lose all their original meaning and become mere routine. While impressing upon man the awe and mystery of the unknown that surrounds him on all sides, they have discouraged him from trying to understand not only the unknown but what might come in the way of social effort.

2. Write a precis of the passage: 15 Marks
When we survey our lives and efforts we soon observe that almost the whole of our actions and desires are bound up with the existence of other human beings. We notice that whole nature resembles that of the social animals. We eat food that others have produced, wear clothes that others have made, live in houses that others have built. The greater part of our knowledge and beliefs has been passed on to us by other people though the medium of a language which others have created. Without language and mental capacities, we would have been poor indeed comparable to higher animals.
We have, therefore, to admit that we owe our principal knowledge over the least to the fact of living in human society. The individual if left alone from birth would remain primitive and beast like in his thoughts and feelings to a degree that we can hardly imagine. The individual is what he is and has the significance that he has, not much in virtue of the individuality, but rather as a member of a great human community, which directs his material and spiritual existence from the cradle to grave.
3. Translate the following passage into English: 15 Marks
বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার কর্তারা ভারত-সহ ম্যালেরিয়াপ্রবণ দেশগুলিকে বহু পূর্বেই সতর্ক করিয়াছেন যে, করোনার অতিমারি চলিতে চলিতেই ম্যালেরিয়া নিয়ন্ত্রণের কাজ চালাইতে হইবে। নচেৎ ফল হইবে ভয়ঙ্কর। করোনা-আক্রান্ত রোগীর চিকিৎসায় স্বাস্থ্যব্যবস্থা সম্পূর্ণ নিয়োজিত, চিকিৎসক ও স্বাস্থ্যকর্মীরা নিজেরা আক্রান্ত হইয়া দীর্ঘ দিন কর্মক্ষেত্র হইতে বিচ্ছিন্ন থাকিতেছেন। এই সময়ে অপরাপর রোগ প্রবল হইয়া উঠিলে সেই সকল রোগীর চিকিৎসা ও পরিচর্যা প্রায় অসম্ভব হইয়া উঠিবে। অতিমারি এড়াইবার জন্য যে লকডাউন চলিতেছে, তাহাও ঔষধ প্রভৃতি পৌঁছাইবার কাজ দুরূহ করিয়া তুলিবে। পতঙ্গবাহিত রোগগুলি সকল বয়সের মানুষকে আক্রান্ত করিতে পারে। অতএব মশা নিয়ন্ত্রণ, পুরসভার ওয়ার্ডগুলিতে রক্তপরীক্ষার আয়োজন, সকল ব্যবস্থা জরুরি ভিত্তিতে আগাম প্রস্তুত করিতে হইবে। রোগের প্রাদুর্ভাব পর্যন্ত অপেক্ষা করিলে তাহার পরিণাম হইবে মারাত্মক।
